This carved painting was inspired by a the daffodils that bloom next to my children’s sandbox in early May.
My process began by layering gesso on an oak board. I then made and observational drawing with my carving tool. After the initial carving was done I layered paint and carving until the painting was finished.
All of my paintings are finished with an archival varnish to ensure longevity.
I recommend putting the painting in a space without direct sunlight to ensure color preservation.
