Mixed media- acrylic paint and carving on oak board
Inspired by one of the last bouquets I harvested from my backyard garden this fall, this painting brings together orange poppies, coral berries, black-eyed susan, and strawflowers as symbols of resilience and vitality. The poppies represent renewed energy and courage, the coral berries abundance and continuity, black-eyed susan steady optimism, and strawflower lasting strength and health. Together, they tell a quiet story of endurance—of weathering seasons, adapting to change, and continuing to shine. With Resilience reflects a personal intention to honor healing and inner strength, celebrating life that persists with warmth, grace, and light.
My process began by layering gesso on an oak board. I then made and observational drawing with my carving tool. After the initial carving was done I layered paint and carving until the painting was finished.
All of my paintings are finished with an archival varnish to ensure longevity.
I recommend putting the painting in a space without direct sunlight to ensure color preservation.
