My process for making this piece was very intuitive. I started cutting on the top right corner and let each word emerge slowly and then choose the next word based on the previous. No pattern, simply letting the words come as I slowly cut the image. My motto is “No mistakes!” Once a cut has been made it is the perfect addition.

After my hand-cut paper prototype was created I made polymer plates of the image and printed them on a Vandercook Universal 1 in Athens, Georgia with Smokey Road Press.
